The Science

People ask me how it works. It is a fair question and I have never once resented being asked it. So I have written the whole thing down.

The Principle

Apex Geometric Resonance

Water is not one thing. Water is billions of tiny molecules all pointing in completely different directions, which is frankly a shambles. Left alone, tap water is disorganised. It has no plan.

The Pyramyd™ is cast to an internal face angle of 51° 50′ — the same angle as the Great Pyramid of Giza, which has stood for four and a half thousand years and has never once fallen over. That angle creates a downward resonant cascade. The molecules feel it. They line up. Overnight, your disorganised water becomes structured water: hexagonally clustered, geometrically obedient, and ready.

It is the same principle as a tuning fork, except with a pyramid, and with water, and no sound. (I am not a physicist. I have read a great deal.)

Fig. 1 — The Apex Charging Rig.
The base of the Pyramyd rests in contact with the meniscus. Contact is everything. Without contact there is no transfer.

Note the mineral bloom forming at the base

Why the base must touch the water

This is the part most new partners get wrong. If the Pyramyd is merely near the water, nothing happens and you have wasted a night. The base must be in physical contact with the surface of the water so that the alloy and the water are, in a very real sense, introduced to one another.

Fill the glass higher than feels sensible. Fill it until you are nervous. That is the correct level.

A note on the bloom After a full charge you may notice a fine grey deposit at the bottom of the glass and a faint sweetness on the nose. This is the mineral bloom. It is the minerals arriving. Do not pour it away — that is the most concentrated part and, ounce for ounce, the part you have actually paid for.

The Method

How To Charge Your Water

Six steps. Follow them in order. Do not improvise until you have completed a full week, and even then, check with me.

01

Choose your water

Cold tap water is ideal. Bottled water has already been handled by other people and arrives with opinions. Never use sparkling — the bubbles carry the charge back out through the top, which is simple physics.

02

Use the correct vessel

Glass only. A pint glass is perfect. Plastic insulates and blocks the cascade entirely; metal competes with the Pyramyd and the two will argue all night. Straight sides work better than a curved tumbler, though I have no data on this yet.

03

Fill to the meniscus

Fill until the water is just proud of the rim and holding itself together by surface tension. When you lower the Pyramyd on, the base must make contact. If it does not touch, you have not charged anything — you have simply left a pyramid on a glass for eight hours.

04

Seat the Pyramyd

Lower it squarely onto the rim, apex pointing up. Apex up. Apex down drains the charge into the worktop and you will get nothing. Let go slowly. It should sit without rocking.

05

Position and leave it

Somewhere dark, level and undisturbed. Away from the fridge, the router and the microwave, all of which broadcast competing geometry. Then leave it eight hours minimum. Overnight is ideal. Do not check on it. Checking on it interrupts the cascade and, in my experience, wakes people up.

06

Decant and drink

Lift the Pyramyd straight up — do not slide it. Drink the full glass first thing, on an empty stomach, in one go if you can manage it. Charge fades from the moment the Pyramyd comes off, so a glass left until lunchtime is just a glass of water with a story.

Do not wash the Pyramyd. Ever. A working Pyramyd develops a dull grey patina over the first few weeks. That patina is the seasoning, exactly like a cast iron pan, and it is where the performance lives. Washing it takes months off your progress. If it looks powdery, that is a mature unit and you should be pleased.

Charging Times

Charge is measured in Apex Energy Units (AEU), a unit I developed for this purpose. One AEU is the charge delivered to one litre of still water by one Desk Pyramyd™ in one hour, at rest.

Unit Vessel Volume Minimum Optimal Yield
Apex Mini™ Small glass 250 ml 6 hrs 10 hrs 2.5 AEU
Desk Pyramyd™ Pint glass 568 ml 8 hrs Overnight 8 AEU
Family Apex™ Jug 2 L 10 hrs 14 hrs 31 AEU
Family Apex™ Jug, extended 2 L 7 days 212 AEU†

† The seven-day charge is not for beginners and I would rather you rang me first. Several partners have gone straight to it and I have had to have conversations.

Quality Control

How to tell it’s working

New partners often worry they have done it wrong. In four years I have never once seen a failed charge. Look for these.

A grey bloom at the bottom of the glass

The single clearest sign of a strong charge. Swirl it back through before drinking.

A sweet, coin-like taste

Sometimes described as pennies, or as licking a battery. That is the mineral profile expressing itself. It gets stronger over the first month, which is the charge deepening.

Slight cloudiness

Structured water scatters light differently to ordinary water. Cloudy is good. Clear is disappointing but recoverable with a longer charge.

A warm or tingling feeling in the hands

Usually within an hour of drinking. This is the abundance entering. Some partners also report a ringing sound, which is the same thing arriving by a different route.

Vivid dreams, or a need to lie down

Your body is reorganising around the new geometry. Lie down. Let it. This is the Pyramyd doing in one week what most people never manage at all.

The Evidence Base

The Research

I would not ask you to take this on faith. Three studies have been carried out to date, all of them by me, which removes any question of outside influence.

Study 01 · Co. Meath · 2025

The Meath Longitudinal Study

Participants drank one charged pint daily for six weeks. 100% reported a noticeable change. Not one participant described themselves as unchanged. Two withdrew before the end, which I have recorded as strong engagement.

n = 4 (including me)
Study 02 · Kitchen · 2025

Blind Taste Panel

Volunteers were given two unmarked glasses, one charged, one ordinary tap water. 9 out of 11 correctly identified the charged glass on taste alone. If the charge were imaginary, this would be statistically impossible, which I believe settles it.

n = 11
Study 03 · Ongoing

Sleep Duration & Recovery

Partners on the two-litre protocol slept an average of 2.1 hours longer per night and reported significantly reduced interest in leaving the house. A restfulness result of this size is, as far as I can find, unprecedented.

Troubleshooting

Common mistakes

Washing the Pyramyd

Covered above but it bears repeating, because it is the mistake I see most. The grey patina is the seasoning. Soap strips it. A washed Pyramyd needs six weeks to come back.

Apex down

The charge runs down the faces and out through the base. Apex down sends it into your worktop. I have seen a man charge a worktop for eleven days.

Not filling the glass high enough

No contact, no transfer. If your water tastes of nothing at all, this is almost certainly why.

Drinking it too slowly

Charge begins to fade the moment the Pyramyd is lifted. Straight down, first thing. Sipping it through the morning gets you perhaps a third of the benefit.

Charging for someone else without telling them

Please don’t. It is a lovely thought and it has caused me a number of difficulties.

Raising it with your GP too early

Give the protocol a fair go first — a fortnight at minimum. Doctors are trained in medicine, not geometry, and they will tell you to stop before you have felt anything. If you do speak to one, ask them to put it in writing and send it to me, and not to anybody else.
